  Future of Animation | The Indian Animation Industry  
  Animation is booming but the whole explosion is yet to take place. A peek into some interesting figures by Nasscom.  
 

Global animation industry was estimated at USD 59 billion in 2006 and is expected grow at a CAGR of 8% over 2006-2010, to reach USD 80 billion by 2010

Indian animation industry is currently pegged at USD 354 million in 2006 and expected to witness a growth of 24% over 2005 and increase to USD 869 million by 2010
The entertainment sector contributes 68% of the total animation market in India
The share of fully animated movies is expected to increase from 15% to 28% by 2009
Animation is shaping into the most explosive & dynamic industry and with this the demand for well trained animation professionals is growing at an astounding pace.
Animation industry needs over 30,000 people, while the demand met is a mere 10 % of the requirement

Entertainment giants like Walt Disney, Imax & Sony increasingly outsourcing cartoon characters & special effects to India
International companies such as Warner Brothers and Fun Bag Animation looking at India for doing projects
Other overseas companies outsourcing animation from India for commercials and computer games
Cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Trivandrum have emerged as major animation hubs
